Why Solar

We have posted blogs in the past about the excellent uses for solar energy, but have yet to actually explain why it is a great idea!  The first reason to go with solar power is that you will finally have some control over your bills, as (after the upfront costs of install) you will be able to utilize the power of the sun and dramatically reduce your dependency on traditional man-made power sources (especially if you opt for a conventional system with battery storage, as this means you will still have reliable energy in situations when power would normally be interrupted, such as ice storms). 

 

Another option is to take advantage of certain laws passed in recent years that lets you put spare power back into the utility network, which you can use later when you need it. This means that the utility company becomes your storage facility with no extra capital cost to you!

 

Another huge factor for many is on the environmental front, as the use of solar power for electricity reduces the amount of pollution that generating plants have to produce. This is, of course, a topic of current interest, with the widespread belief that fossil fuel use is contributing to global warming and the demise of the planet.

 

The wonderful thing about solar power is that it is a renewable energy source, meaning we will never run out, unlike coal or oil based fuels.  So why not save some pennies and maybe the planet…
